Camping Out

Boy the things we Mothers will do for our baby boys. Elijah and his daddy and I are going camping sometime during the two weeks his daddy is home and have been talking about it for a couple days now. Well, all he wanted to talk about was roasting marshmallows. So, yesterday about midday Memaw tells him on the phone she got him some marshmallows, well....needless to say I  had to put the tent up in the backyard last night and we camped out....all over marshmallows!!

Started off having to go buy a firepit to roast the marshmallows in, almost couldnt get the pit and 4 chairs in my little Jeep. Took 3 men almost 10 minutes to get it all loaded correctly and, of course, had they listened to my suggestion at minute 2 they would have been finished, since that's what they ended up doing anyway. Got the pit home, had to unload it myself and put it together (fun, fun). Then had to put the tent up which is a huge tent and I have only helped Bryan put it up one time about a year and a half ago! So, Amanda helped hold the poles and we got it up in about 30 minutes!

At dark we all sat around our campfire and roasted marshmallows, which turns out, Elijah wants to cook but doesnt want to eat! Go figure! Then, after a little while we went out to the tent to spend the night. Took Elijah about 30-45 minutes to calm down and go to sleep, but he finally did. And let me tell you the kid can sleep through anything. At about 11:30, there is a bird in our front yard that must be from Australia because he lives on a different sleep schedule than we do. That bird started hollering and screaming and literally did not stop but for about 20 minute intervals ALL night long. I laid there for hours trying to think of something I had in the back yard that I could throw at the tree in the front yard to get him to shut up! I am going today to Bass Pro Shops and purchasing a BB gun and going bird hunting tonight!

Camping inside the city limits and living within 1/2 mile of the police station is just not a good combination. Every time the police sirens go off, all the dogs in the neighborhood bark and howl and my two little dogs were in the tent with us, so that didn't go over too well. Then, at random times, all the neighborhood dogs just love to bark at random things....or who knows, maybe they were barking at that lovely bird! There were several trains that went through during the night that I could hear from the train tracks thats about a mile away.  Then, to top it all off, woke up at 5:40, after going to sleep after 3, and was slightly cold so I tried to get up off the nice huge queen size airbed we had to get Elijah some more covers. Well, apparently the airbed has a slow leak in it cause I was sunk down in the middle of the bed, almost on the floor. And thanks to my bootcamp trainer for making my arms so sore I can't even lift my cell phone without having to use both hands, I almost couldn't get out of the bed. So, when I finally did manage to get out of the bed, I put my shoes on immediately, grabbed my son and came inside to sleep for the rest of the morning.

So, that was how horrible my night was, not to mention his daddy being out of town and it was just me and him in the tent. Then, when he wakes up in his bed this morning he says, "Mom, that was the best camping trip ever, but next time can we sleep in the tent all night long?" Hahahahahahahahaha!!!

Like I said, the things we Mom's will do for our little boys!
